MONDAYS The Highs and Lows Choir: Singing for wellbeing for people living with long term pain

Side by Side Arts are excited to work in partnership with The QE Hospital Charitable Fund and Gateshead Pain Service to deliver a singing group focused on wellbeing for people living with long term pain.

Our ‘It Can’t Hurt to Sing’ group aims to work with people who are living with long term pain to provide a space where through different singing techniques, regulated breathing exercises and gentle movement individuals can explore their creative side, discover alternative ways to help with their pain management and connect with others who are also living with long term pain.

The group is relaxed and informal with no prior musical knowledge required (our ethos at Side By Side Arts is that everyone can sing and there is no such thing as a wrong note!) The sessions consist of short activities with plenty of breaks.

As this group is funded by the QE Hospital Charitable Fund there will be some evaluation required on the impact singing has made on pain management and this will feed into a piece of research.

Date: Every Monday during term time

Time: 1:30 – 3:00

Cost: Free to attend, kindly funded by QE Charitable Trust
